To provide the business with an effective and efficient financial billing and collections process for trade receivables and sundry accounts receivable and to ensure that there is financial Accounts Receivable integrity. To ensure that the internal control environment is effective in safeguarding the custody of the business' assets.
Defining Trade Receivables and sundry accounts receivable strategies to improve effective and efficient transaction processing and improve Accounts Receivable integrity
 Developing and leading the Accounts Receivable team to deliver the agreed operating plans including monthly reporting against progress
 Ensuring the effective design and implementation of financial processes and internal controls relating to Accounts Receivable including the alignment to BU business processes and changes as a result of business and system changes.
 Continuously measuring and reviewing accounts receivable transactional process performance and driving issue resolution with own staff, IT, franchisees, sundry Accounts Receivable and other BU's.
 Managing the integrity of franchisees and sundry accounts receivable master data across finance and business systems.
 Engaging and standardising trade receivable payment terms with franchisee and franchise BU.
 Managing and assessing the credit risk of any sundry accounts opened.
 Managing collections of trade receivables and sundry accounts receivable according to their terms and that any settlement discounts are not forgone
 Managing authorization controls for any credits passed
 Managing the billing process to the most cost-effective and controlled method
 Managing control over accounts receivable receipts and application of cash
 Meeting with Franchisees and sundry accounts receivable and ensuring billing issues raised by accounts receivable are addressed and responded to on a timely basis
 Understanding and managing the communication of business process changes to franchisees and sundry debtors
 Managing export process end to end to ensure that exports are billed on a timely basis and export issues are addressed in the relevant area
 Managing franchisee claims raised and driving clearing of claims with BU's
 Managing team to ensure there are accounts receivable transactional financial integrity between the general ledger and upstream systems
 Managing billing issues to resolution end to end, that included franchisee, franchise department, IT and other BU's
 Partner with the BEE office in respect of the ED loan application process and ongoing management of the ED loan debtors' book.
 Highlighting potential accounts receivable recovery issues to the franchise and other BU's and driving issue resolution
 Ensuring all control and clearing accounts are reconciled and cleared in line with group financial principles.
 Managing process of ensuring systems issues are logged and resolved and hold files cleared
 Monitoring compliance with group financial principles of all balance sheet accounts within Accounts Receivable and providing monthly commentary
 Developing team scorecards and monitoring teams against scorecard key metrics
 Compiling and communicating reports with key metrics and commentary on monthly and year-to-date performance
 Managing and ensuring compliance to financial processes by BU's and Franchisees and Sundry accounts receivable by implementing appropriate measuring and reporting mechanisms.
 Managing internal and external audit reports and responding with required actions
 Implementing the necessary people structures to execute all financial processes.
 Continuously build financial competence within the service centre.
 Continuously build talent and succession within the service centre.
 Developing and leading the service centre management team and providing day-to-day management and feedback to enhance performance
Functional Competencies
 Able to discuss and address issues raised by franchisees and other BU's
 Able to drive service centre process efficiencies
 Able to implement business processes and drive issue resolution
 Able to draft concise performance reports
 Able to influence BU leaders concerning process compliance and risk management
 Able to negotiate with franchisees regarding compliance with payment terms
 Able to effectively use the latest decision support systems and other technologies (e.g. Comshare, Excel).
 Strategic project management experience
 Able to implement comprehensive and integrated accounting policies and procedures in a large and complex organization.
 Understand to use large, complex, integrated IT systems to process large volumes of financial transactions.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

What theoretical knowledge (e.g. degree/diploma) does the job require?
 Bcom Honours in Accounting or CA qualification
 Sound understanding of IFRS
 Sound understanding of accounting processes
 Sound understanding of billing and trade receivables processes
 Sound understanding of merchandise supply processes (local and international)
 Sound understanding of accounts receivable collection
 Sound understanding of commercial contracts
What experience (e.g. previous exposure) does the job require?
 At least 5 years in a finance environment
