Te tūnga | The roles

As a Statistical and Data Analyst you will be involved in all aspects of the production process for our regular statistical releases. These roles span data collection, validation, compilation, analysis and publication of data and release materials.

Engaging with suppliers and customers to build relationships, while providing excellent customer focus and applying your analytical thinking to ensure our outputs make sense in the macroeconomic context and are fit for purpose.

In our environment, you'll develop subject matter knowledge and apply this to solve problems and provide new insights to data. You may work on the development of new statistics or the re-development of existing statistics, to ensure our statistical products reflect the contemporary context and meet the needs of our customers

sWe have a number of vacancies across our unit in the following teams
  • Production and Supply Use team produce detailed annual National accounts and regional GDP. Wellington based.
  • Income and Saving team present information on different sectors of the economy. Christchurch or Wellington based.
  • Balance of Payments (BOP) and International Investments Position (IIP) statistics which are used to understand New Zealand's trade and investment with the rest of the world Christchurch or Wellington based.
  • Investment team produces detailed balance sheets and sector based national accounts statistics Christchurch or Wellington based.
  • National Accounts Quarterlies - produces quarterly GDP among other economic indicators Christchurch or Wellington based.
