The organisation are expanding rapidly and can offer a very real opportunity for incoming employees to grow and develop within the company. Offices are located in Melbourne's CBD and the employer also offer flexibility to work from home part of the week once training is complete and you have established yourself with the organisation. Recent acquisitions have fuelled the growth for this business, and they are looking for an ambitious and dedicated Assistant Accountant for this opportunity.

The Role

This is initially an ongoing contract position with an immediate start. However, the employer would like someone who could work towards securing a permanent position in the company after an initial period as a contractor.

You will support the wider accounting team and focus predominantly on accounting responsibilities such as:

• Support with end of month financial reporting cycle
• Analyse and evaluate profit and loss and balance sheet information
• Pull together monthly management reporting pack
• Liaising with staff in central head office
• Coordinating with accounts payable and receivable
• End of month journals
• Support with audit preparation
• Credit card and bank reconciliations
• Balance sheet and bank reconciliations
• Prepayment journals
• GST reconciliations
• Raising purchase orders, submitting invoices for processing
• Assistance with cashflow forecasting
• Collation of audit samples

This role will grow and develop as the company continues to expand. We are targeting ambitious Assistant Accountants who want to continue on the upward curve of their careers.

It's a fast paced and ever-changing environment which requires a strong work ethic and ability to hit the ground running.

Please note that this is a quick start position so we cannot accept applications from those on notice periods. Interviews for the position will take place week commencing the 8th of August with the successful candidate starting ideally on Monday the 15th in the CBD.

Your Profile

You will have a background in Accounting and Finance with a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar position. The following attributes will also be highly advantageous:

• Prior experience within a mid-large organisation working in accounting
• Party qualified CA/CPA and actively studying
• Excellent attitude and work ethic
• Very strong written and verbal communication skills
• Able to read and understand p&l and balance sheet information
• Comfortable commuting to CBD
