What You'll Do

We are looking for a highly versatile Controller with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions of the organization. We're looking for someone with strategic and operational financial experience who understands the needs of an evolving organization.

Responsibilities

General Ledger and Systems

• Oversee all accounting activities including Quote to Cash, Procure to Pay, Employee Expense management and Payroll.
• Manage the month-end and year-end financial close process; this includes a detailed balance sheet reconciliation process and variance analysis.
• Support the preparation of timely and accurate Consolidated US GAAP compliant financial statements for Management, Board of Directors, Investors and Bank to provide vital information to the decision-making process.
• Work with the Business Systems team to ensure the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting platforms. 
• Maintain the chart of accounts.
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and electronic documentation.

Technical Accounting and Compliance

• Establish, maintain, and evaluate accounting policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
• Ensure the timely and accurate accounting treatment of all transactions under US GAAP, including day-to-day transactions as well as complex, non-recurring transactions.
• Maintain accounting for all legal entities, both domestic and international, and related intercompany procedures.
• Manage the annual external financial audit and other required financial audits, including preparation of audit schedules, organization and review of supporting documentation.
• Coordinate the activities of tax professionals, and other outsourced consultants.
• Manage the federal, state and local tax filing process including 1099 reporting and NEXUS review. 
• Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance.
• Stay up to date on recent sales & use tax issues and maintain procedures to ensure proper compliance.

Analysis

• Be able to perform insightful analysis on large amounts of data using pivot tables, etc. Draw conclusions and report on what is happening.
• Review the average cost of inventory and work closely with the Supply Chain/Logistics Team to monitor the impact on margin.
• Assess ongoing accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and efficiencies.

Team Management

• Remotely manage the daily activities of the accounting team.
• Support hiring and retaining of accounting staff in a remote environment.
• Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures. 
• Provide training and implementation of process improvements.

Requirements

• 7-12 years experience in an accounting position with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• 3+ years recent experience with Manufacturing Accounting in a manufacturing or consumer products company, with focus on inventory transactions (GL review, adjustments, reconciliations, monthly & annual tasks, etc.), and excellent understanding of full inventory cycle, Quote-to-Cash.
• Advanced Excel user who could write formulas in their sleep to parse and analyze new data in the most efficient ways.
• CPA required, inactive is ok. 
• BS/BA in Accounting or Accounting & Finance.
• Proven knowledge of US GAAP principles and compliance.
• Able to navigate and utilize larger ERPs; NetSuite preferred.
• A recent focus on quickly growing organizations.
• Experience managing and communicating with a dispersed team remotely.
• Experience with Sales Tax management (NEXUS research, filings, audits) in multiple states/jurisdictions. 
• Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation: The salary range for this role is $138,000 - 148,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills and certifications.
