About the team

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Associate to join our Sydney Corporate Tax team on a permanent basis.

You'll join an established, highly knowledgeable and supportive team who are committed to delivering an exceptional experience for large corporate clients, advising on a wide range of matters and helping stakeholders to navigate the complex Australian taxation regime.
  • Preparation of company and trust tax returns, including consolidated company tax returns, for a wide range of large corporate clients
  • Preparation and review of tax-effect accounting calculations
  • Research and assistance with tax consulting advice (such as tax consolidation, tax treaties, hybrid mismatches, Controlled Foreign Companies, withholding taxes, thin capitalisation, permanent establishments, AMITs etc.)
  • Research and assistance with preparing advice and calculations in connection with international tax issues
  • Assist clients with M&A activities, including tax structuring and tax due diligence services
  • Assist clients with ATO reviews, governance matters and audits, as well as liaising with the ATO to obtain rulings for clients
  • Research and analysis of technical tax issues and preparation of tax reports
  • Assistance with business development initiatives and proposals, including preparing for and attending meetings with clients

You are a driven, experienced tax professional eager to accelerate their career in a pure corporate tax role within a rewarding team environment. Approaching problems with a positive attitude and solutions focus, you are excited by the prospect of collaborating with blue-chip corporate clients and guiding them through the process from start to finish.
  • University degree in a related discipline, such as Business / Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Law and / or other relevant professional qualification(s)
  • Previous exposure to working with large corporate tax clients in a commercial or professional services environment
  • Analytical skills and an inquisitive mindset, with a desire to deeply understand clients' businesses, challenges and confidence in applying knowledge to routine matters
  • Demonstrable strong work ethic and commitment to excellent client service
