There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK's largest house builders. Our Group Head Office Division is looking to recruit a Finance Apprentice to join the Division's Finance team.

The Role

The role of Finance Apprentice involves assisting in the production of accurate and timely financial transactions and reports in addition to maintaining the business's accounting records. This will include, purchase ledger duties and ad hoc tasks within the finance department.

This is an excellent opportunity for the start of a career in finance and the successful applicant will be enrolled on the Level 3 Finance Apprenticeship, which includes AAT.

Principle accountabilities of the role include:

* Assist with purchase ledger duties, including:

- Processing invoices

- Managing invoices for approval

- Carry out monthly supplier statement reconciliations

- Carry out mid-month and month end payment runs, ensuring compliance with the Prompt Payment Code

* Set up and process ad hoc payments

* Process employee expenses claims and payments in line with Company policy

* Post nominal ledger journals as necessary

* Bank reconciliations

* Posting cashbook entries

* Reconciling sales receipts

* Managing the sales ledger

* Posting sales invoices

* Weekly cash forecast and movement reports

* Provide cover for critical tasks during leave periods

* Other adhoc tasks within the finance department

The above list of accountabilities are not exclusive or exhaustive. The post holder will be required to undertake any such duties as may be reasonably expected.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

* Experience of working within a similar role will be preferred but is not essential

* Experience of working with accountancy software. Working knowledge of COINS is desirable but not essential

Qualifications and Training

* GCSE Maths and English - Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)

Skills and Aptitude

* Good interpersonal skills.

* Excellent organisation and administration skills, including good attention to detail

* Positive attitude and desire to learn

* Ability to work on own as well as part of a team

* Works effectively to deadlines and competently works on multiple tasks simultaneously

* Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems
