A dynamic company based in Irene is looking for a Junior Debtors Clerk

Duties:
  • Reporting to the Financial Manager
  • The venue has 123 rooms, 5 conference rooms and a 1200 seater restaurant
  • Debtors are both local and international (all payments are made in ZAR)
  • To ensure that any and all outstanding monies due to the hotel by customers / travel agents / tour operators have been received within the prescribed time period
  • To process all applications for credit and ensure that all customers have an approved, signed credit application on file
  • To actively manage the A/R aging analysis on a weekly basis in order to ensure that any and all outstanding debts are managed in accordance with the terms in which they were granted - meetings
  • To keep detailed records on any and all communication directed at any specific debtor and the reasons for non-payment, late payment, etc
  • To receive and process any and all advance deposits
  • To actively update the bank statements to ensure that any and all deposits / payments have indeed been received for the correct amounts and that these amounts reflect in the hotel bank account
  • To identify any and all potential delinquent accounts and identify any anomalies and potential risks
  • To update GL codes and Transaction codes on the Opera ACCPAC interface as and when needed
  • To actively manage the Debtors clearing account, Bad Debt Provision and Unallocated Deposit account in the General Ledger and to ensure that it is balanced and reconciled with full detail monthly Personal requirements
  • Strong on reconciliations
  • Assist with O-Status
  • Processing of House Accounts
  • Month-end journals


Requirements:
  • 1 2 years experience
  • Preferably come from the Hospitality industry
  • Matric Certificate
  • Diploma in bookkeeping / Hotel diploma (advantageous)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and is results focused
  • Honest and trustworthy
  • Good team player with a flexible and co-operative attitude
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Fluency in English (both written and oral)
  • Strong focus on business and attention to detail
  • Good team player with a flexible and co-operative attitude
  • Proactive nature and ability to work independently

Computer Literacy:
  • Knowledge of OPERA (essential)
  • MS Excel and MS Word (essential)
