This position is responsible for generating forecasts and analyzing trends in sales, SG&A, provider performance, product line profitability, membership, medical costs, premium yields, and other areas of business. Researches economic progressions to assist with the organization's financial planning. Presents findings and recommendations to management. May include responsibility for budget planning and analysis.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develops functional, market level, and/or site strategy, plans, production and/or organizational priorities
  • Direct and have managerial responsibilities for capitation, budgeting, financial planning, decision support
  • Prepare and maintain regular financial planning reports; monthly reporting, monthly profit and loss forecast (vs. budget); cash flow forecast; and IBNR analysis
  • Complete analysis of financial results and develop strategic and tactical recommendations
  • Develop and maintain operating and capital budgets
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls, financial procedures, and deployment of industry accepted general accounting principles
  • Oversee the FP&A functions
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and appropriateness of financial and management reporting for federal and state submissions and reporting
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements
  • Ensure knowledge of and compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, ethical, and contractual requirements including but not limited to the Code of Conduct; the Employee Handbook; the Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Program; the Compliance Program; the privacy and information security requirements of HIPAA and other applicable privacy requirements; and all other applicable requirements
  • Monitor, interpret, and analyze performance related to managed care membership, revenue, expenses, medical costs, and utilization
  • Develop and maintain a sustainable growth strategy and monitor controls to preserve the group's assets
  • Travel 25-50% for non-local candidates
  • Other duties as required

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in public company healthcare finance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Managed Care experience highly preferred, in global, professional risk and shared savings arrangements
  • Essbase knowledge highly preferred

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
