Operations Assistant Manager (Audit), Belfast

As a Qualified Accountant, you will play a key role, within our Central Audit Services Team (CAST), providing technical and procedural support to the operational teams ensuring that operational performance and delivery meets the requirements of the wider business, within a modern support service environment.

CAST provide an innovative and cost effective solution to the delivery of audit services and accounts production activity across multiple client types, industries and geographies. From inception of the centre in Belfast in 2014 the business has grown to serving thousands of customers throughout the UK.

We currently employ c.120 permanent people to support the audit practice and the focus is now on ensuring that we are maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence whilst supporting the wider UK firm by expanding the offering across additional processes.

A look into the role

As an Operations Assistant Manager within CAST, you will:

  • Support your team, approx. 3 to 4 people, in following established procedures for each process, including adhering to risk requirements and quality standards to maximise the quality and accuracy of service.

  • Deal with any complex queries received from the operational teams

  • Ensure that technical content of training material is up-to-date and in line with the department's quality management approach. The work will also involve supporting with the design and delivery of training.

  • Support the Technical & Quality Manager in the resolution and analysis of complaints and feedback, using this information to implement improvements within the processes and systems.

  • Collaborate with engagement teams and the firm's technical department to streamline audit and accounting processes and establish non-judgmental elements, design process maps, template work papers, produce learning material, and develop quality review checklist as well as liaison for any feedback.

  • Set and manage goals and strategy for your team and develop them into key technical experts in a challenging, motivating and supportive environment.

  • Lead from a Quality and process perspective on key CAST project initiatives such as the introduction of Inflo modules and the BSG Accounts preparation project

  • Collaborate with Learning and Development (L&D) to provide training on the impact of changes to regulation, auditing standards and accounting standards (IFRS and UK GAAP) to CAST processes.

Knowing you're right for us

Joining us as an Operations Assistant Manager (Audit) the minimum criteria you'll need is a professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA). It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don't worry if you don't tick every box, we'll help you develop along the way.

  • Experience of managing audits in addition to dealing with complex technical matters

  • Excellent knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS102

  • Experience of using audit software and Microsoft packages
