RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Payroll Generalist in Washington, DC.

Key Tasks:
  • Payroll Generalist will be responsible for inputting payroll data into the payroll system(s) and ensuring all employee changes, such as new hires, garnishments, terminations, resignations, leaves of absences, wage rate, address, name, and other status changes are accurate and added timely

Updating employee deductions as needed, (i.e., retirement plan contributions, tax exemptions, benefit deductions, and other personal information)
Collecting and reviewing time and attendance and leave use information from the client(s) for the appropriate pay periods
Downloading payroll register preview information and ensuring all payroll data is correct as entered, re-entering payroll data as necessary and re-checking payroll register information prior to releasing payroll for processing
Processing necessary benefit remittances from payroll, (i.e., retirement plan contributions)
As a Payroll Generalist, you will be processing garnishment checks as necessary
Distribute payroll reports as requested by the client(s) to human resources, finance, and administration, etc.
Assists clients with payroll tax related issues, calculating off-cycle paychecks
Maintains vacation and sick leave balances according to client(s) leave policies
Provides HR guidance to clients to improve operations, support supervisors and minimize employee relations issues as it relates to payroll
Payroll Generalist reviews special tax items such as: group term life, third-party sick pay, taxable fringe benefits, etc. as it relates to payroll
Quarter and Year End review processing of payroll data to ensure accuracy of all employee information for W2s
Responds to, resolves client issues, and provides exceptional customer service to clients; Develops and maintains positive client relationships

Job Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; BSc/BA in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or relevant field is a plus

PHR/SHRM-CP certification or other human resources certification preferred; CPP strongly desired
3+ years of hands-on, full cycle payroll processing experience
Proven experience as payroll specialist
Understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
Human Resources and benefit experience
Must have strong knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll and withholding laws
ADP experience strongly preferred; Knowledge of and experience with HRIS systems and data management
Excellent follow-up and follow-through abilities
Strong sense of urgency
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
Experienced with Microsoft office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Previous experience in working in multi-site/multi-state organizations, preferred
Creative and resourceful
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Strong organizational and phone skills
Ability to take initiative with minimal supervision
