Job Details

Undertake all aspects of financial management, including regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will also include areas of financial risk management.

Description

  • Manage the core Finance team, 2 direct reports plus the six staff underneath them, including 1-2-1's, objective and PDP setting, and hiring of new staff.
  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/P, GL and Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Unbilled work in progress.
  • Oversee the budgeting and reforecasting process including cash flow, on a quarterly basis within the required timeframes.
  • Develop strong relationships with the partnership including Heads of Department and Practice Group Leads, working with them to ensure their budgets are understood, owned and controlled.
  • Present financial reports to the Practice group leads.
  • Publish timely monthly financial statements, including evaluation and commentary on the monthly performance as part of the routine monthly reporting cycle.
  • Work with the other managers within the Finance Team to ensure cross-team processes are effective and communication is clear.
  • Be responsible for the external audit process.
  • Responsible for all regulatory reporting e.g. carbon emissions, gender pay gap etc.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Maintain the financial reporting processes to ensure they are efficient as part of a commitment to continuous improvement. Understand the processes carried out by the Financial Reporting team and review the timings of these tasks to ensure they meet the business needs.
  • Manage the Month-end and Year-end close process.
  • Ad-hoc projects including system testing and implementations.

Profile

  • Significant experience in leading a team and the additional responsibilities this presents
  • Demonstrable experience in running a budget and forecasting process, ideally in a professional services environment.
  • Experienced in evaluating existing processes and presenting solutions to improve the efficiencies of the finance function.
  • Positive and collaborative approach, with highly developed personal and communication skills and the ability to confidently lead and motivate a small team. With well-developed management skills you should have the ability to influence people at all levels.
  • Hands-on approach to team deliverables, managing resources to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Full qualification in CIMA/ACCA/ACA is required, with a minimum of two years PQE.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements.
  • An excellent level of Excel experience is essential as well as the ability to work with multiple IT systems simultaneously.
  • SQL knowledge would be advantageous but not essential.
