Your new company
The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) is the flagship of musical life across Birmingham and the West Midlands. With an international reputation as one of the world's greatest orchestras they have recently celebrated 100 years since their first ever concert. Based in Symphony Hall in Birmingham, CBSO gives over 150 concerts each year in the UK and around the world, playing music that ranges from classics to contemporary, film music and symphonic disco. With a far-reaching community programme and a family of world-class choruses and youth ensembles, it's involved in every aspect of music-making in the region. CBSO are now recruiting an experienced Finance Manager to support the Finance Director in managing the CBSO's finances (turnover of c £10m) and oversee all aspects of management and financial accounting.

Your new role
Reporting to and working closely with the Finance Director you will have responsibility for management accounting and budget setting, including monthly Board Packs. You will produce statutory accounts including VAT and deal with the auditors. This role is an excellent opportunity to attend Board and Audit and Risk committee meetings, really amercing yourself within CBSO. You will also manage a small team including payroll.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified or QBE accountant who has a real interest in the arts including classical music. You will be capable and confident when presenting to a wide range of audiences and be able to do so in a way that captures interest. You will have experience of management and financial accounting, producing both in a high-pressured environment with conflicting deadlines and as an individual you will have a good sense of humour and be collaborative by nature. If you have any experience of working within the charity sector that would be desirable but certainly not essential.

What you'll get in return
You will be part of a highly commercial and extremely capable team which has ambitious plans for their next 100 years. A love of music will remain at the core of everything they do and you will get unlimited opportunities to experience this. You will have a flexible working environment with an appropriate split between office and home working and the support of a very capable and confident Finance Director. CBSO are offering a salary of £40,000 on a 35hour working week with pension contributions of 4%, life assurance and other benefits.
