Client Details

Michael Page Finance are pleased to partner with our client, a well regarded financial services business based just outside of Dudley. This role will be reporting directly into the Head of Finance and due to the business structure will offer opportunity for career progression.

A key part of this role will involve producing timely and accurate financial and regulatory reporting, preparing board packs through liaising with internal and external stakeholders. This is a great opportunity for someone who excels as driving process improvements and is experienced in managing people.

Description

  • Running month-end, annual and interim accounting processes for Group and subsidiary companies in accordance with timetable.
  • Reconciling nominal ledger accounts monthly.
  • Knowledge and application of IFRS 9 provisioning across residential and commercial portfolios, ability to analyse and interpret data and perform variance analysis. Knowledge of EIR accounting and hedge accounting also desirable.
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting including for Board, Executive Risk Committee and Audit Committee.
  • Responding to queries raised by the internal or external auditors.
  • Researching and considering the impact of new and revised International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Being able to interpret and apply these to the Group.
  • Identifying and leading the implementation of process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Maintaining strong governance including by ensuring that procedures are kept up to date, reviewed at least annually and include full documentation of interpretation and assumptions.
  • Aiding the development and performance monitoring of less experienced members of the Finance team.
  • Meeting the requirements of Risk Frameworks by:
    • Identifying and mitigating risks using effective controls.
    • Reporting operational risk events in accordance with the Risk Reporting Policy; and
    • Ensuring controls linked to the role are documented and operating effectively.

Profile

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a minimum of 1-2 years post qualified experience.
  • Experience of preparing both consolidated and individual company accounts under IFRS.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and work to tight and competing deadlines and manage team members to do the same.
  • Demonstrable problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of personal motivation and initiative.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, processes, and reconciliations/controls.
