The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) plays a critical role in regulating capital markets and financial services in New Zealand, ultimately providing better outcomes for investors, customers, participants, and for the New Zealand economy.
Within the Operations function, our Finance team delivers best practice, client focused and efficient financial systems, processes and policies for FMA. In addition to providing timely, relevant and accurate budgeting, and forecasting, the Finance team provides robust and accurate financial analysis and recommendations that aligns with the FMA strategic and business goals.
The Role - Te Tūranga
Due to an internal promotion, we have an opportunity for an Accountant to join our Finance team to provide accounting processing and support services to FMA managers and staff as required. Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you will be assisting to ensure the seamless operations of financial and management accounting including accounting reporting and audits to the review of internal control, policies, processes and procedures to ensure FMA's finances are budgeted and managed accurately and efficiently. You will engage with managers across the organisation to provide advice where necessary and promote a connected-organisational approach.
About you - Ō pūkenga
Preferably you will be on the path to becoming CA qualified and have relevant experience in a similar accountant role, ideally with a good understanding of government environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be critical to your success, along with advanced excel skills. Your numerical skills, attention to detail and accuracy will be second to none and you'll be comfortable maintaining performance when under pressure, and consistently delivering on time and to a high standard.
