The Office of the Auditor General is looking to expand our financial auditing capacity with fresh minds to work in our teams analysing financial information, identifying issues and improving public sector accountability and transparency.

Our Auditors work across a diverse portfolio of audit clients throughout Western Australia, planning, conducting and reporting on audit results. We focus on state government, local government and the tertiary sector providing our staff with great exposure to the diverse range of services provided to the WA community.

We are seeking high calibre individuals for the Senior Director, Financial Audit pool. These positions report to the Assistant Auditor General, Financial Audit and are members of the Financial Audit senior leadership team. Senior Directors lead a team of auditors to deliver high quality audits for a portfolio of clients and provide high level professional advice to the Auditor General, Deputy Auditor General and other Executives on all matters relating to their respective portfolio.

Senior Directors also contribute to the development and delivery of the OAG's vision, mission, values, goals and strategies.

Other important position and recruitment information

As part of this process, you will be assessed on the following:
  • substantial financial audit experience and advanced knowledge of accounting standards and contemporary auditing and assurance standards, principles and practices
  • experience in managing resources and implementing change initiatives to achieve strategic outcomes
  • experience directing complex assurance audit activities and reporting on findings
  • proven ability to build and develop individuals and teams
  • proven ability to communicate, influence and negotiate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • a bachelor degree and full membership with a relevant professional accounting body
  • continual learning through ongoing professional development

Financial auditors travel outside of the Perth CBD and to regional locations for extended stays. This includes entering organisations that have mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

The Office conducts employment screening for successful applicants, which will include a national police clearance and may include an Australian Government security clearance if required for the role.
