The Investment and Technology Group delivers strategic oversight and management of DoT's operating and infrastructure budget and provides commercial and information technology services to drive high performance and improved commercial outcomes for the State.
About the Opportunity
The Accounts Payable Officer provides quality support to the Accounts Payable (AP) function and ensures that DoT's Financial Delegation and financial governance policy and processes are adhered to. The Finance Support Officer AP/ AR is responsible for reviewing and checking claims for payment, The Accounts Payable Officer assists with the continuous improvement initiatives including the documentation of processes.
Key Accountabilities
- Accurately process claims for payment after checking for relevant controls and information, such as appropriate charge code and correct authorisations.
- Accurately review claims to ensure the correct GST code has been applied and that FBT has been identified if relevant.
- Actively assist with the education and communication to DOT people regarding accounts processes and controls.
- Efficiently manage responses to enquiries and ensure follow up action is taken.
Key Selection Criteria
- Experience in the processing of accounts for payment preferably in a government environment.
- Demonstrated sound knowledge and understanding of accounts payable modules in Financial Systems.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, resolve or escalate issues where appropriate.
- Demonstrates capacity to build and maintain effective relationships and communicate with key internal and external stakeholders with the ability to prepare and distribute relevant professional/technical information.
