This role is for minimum 6 months but could be a year
The client is offering a hybrid model and you only need to go into the office twice a week
they are looking for someone who has excellent communications and dealing with a finance admin role


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver an effective and efficient financial administration to Business and Innovation departments and, as required, other Knowledge Exchange projects across the University, ensuring compliance with the University's Financial Standing Orders (FSO).
  • Maintain the sales ledger for Business & Innovation in the Colleges including setting up new customer accounts on ABW and raising sales invoices in line with the contract payment schedules, ensuring the appropriate VAT rate is applied.
  • Actively monitor and reconcile the debtor position, identifying unpaid or unexpected transactions, performing credit control on outstanding balances in line with the University credit control procedures, raising credit notes when necessary and providing aged debtors reports for review with managers.
  • Be first point of contact for Business Innovation finance enquiries, effectively maintain and monitor the shared mailbox.
  • Set up new suppliers in ABW as required, raise requisitions, receipt goods, process supplier invoices and various Payroll forms in accordance with public sector obligations and the University FSO, ensuring the budget codes used are accurate.
  • Facilitate the setup of students IPR and prizes payments.
  • Effectively communicate with suppliers and customers as required, to assist with queries and ensure the smooth running of the Business & Innovation finance operations.
  • Liaise with staff across Knowledge Exchange to resolve queries and provide advice on Finance processes and procedures.
  • Work closely with Assistant Finance Business Partners - Knowledge Exchange to ensure that financial transactions are reconciled on a monthly basis and that various project & financial tracking spreadsheets are kept up-to-date in order to guarantee the integrity and accuracy of the management reports and the ABW system.
  • Keep informed in regards of any new University wide procedures and legislative developments and liaise with relevant members of staff to ensure that University's multiple protocols are fully understood and followed.

GENERAL

  • Deliver a supportive and focused customer orientated service to staff, respond to phone calls and emails from local Finance Managers, Business Managers, staff, students and other customers across the University.
  • Assume other reasonable duties consistent with your role, which may be assigned to you anywhere within the University.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the role.

  • Personally contribute towards reducing the university's impact on the environment and support actions associated with the Sustainability Manifesto (2016 - 2022).
