As we finished 2021 on a high as a business, we are moving into a period of growth and expansion. We are growing our Bulk Shipping Finance Team at our Warrington head office and are offering an exciting business administration apprenticeship opportunity to support the team.

The European Metal Recycling Bulk Shipping Department operate a complete shipping service to assist in the delivery of cargo to customers worldwide. The Ship Finance Department provides accounting and transactional support internally and to the wider business strategy and so is a great starting opportunity for anyone who may be interested in shipping, business, metal recycling or sustainability.

The role will be exposed to transactional processes, entering accounting transactions through a range of Office, financial and industry specific IT systems and so will be a great opportunity for anyone seeking a career in finance and accounting.

What you will be doing:

This is a development role, so a willingness to learn and commit time and energy to producing results for the business is key. You will be studying for a Level 3 (Advanced) Business Administration Apprenticeship with our partner training provider. At least 20% of your time will be spent studying and learning on the job but in reality, your development starts from day one and is only limited by your mindset!

Within a short period of time and under the guidance of our Marine Accountant you will be:

  • Key in maintaining accurate Payable transactional records vs budget in preparation for settlement in line with credit terms.
  • Maintaining accurate Receivable transactional records and active collections within payment terms
  • Controlling accuracy and mitigate error by reconciliation.
  • Gathering, analysing and reporting financial information internally or to the wider business
  • Upholding company risk strategies, due diligence and financial information security
  • Always working to company Ethical Standards to protect the reputation of the Bulk Shipping Department as well as the wider organisation.
About you:
  • Minimum, GCSE Level 2 English and Maths, (4/C or above).
  • Progressive you will bring natural curiosity, new ideas and external perspective to projects.
  • Responsible a self-starter, you must be able to pick up a task and follow it through to conclusion, either with well-defined guidance or whilst dealing with ambiguity.
  • Honest this is a development role and youwill be expected to undertake new tasks it is important that you are willing to learn from mistakes and operate in a reflective manner.
