Te Kaiurungi | About the Role

The Specialised Finance team originates, structures, and executes market leading financial solutions for project finance transactions across the Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities sectors, and with the NZ Government's focus on infrastructure and decarbonisation there is a strong pipeline of transactions.

We currently have an exceptional opportunity in Auckland for an Associate Director, Specialised Finance, to support the Directors on all aspects of the transactions (i.e. origination, structuring, and execution), leading parts of these transactions and having oversight of other transaction elements undertaken by the team, as well as managing a portfolio of existing assets.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Working as part of a high achieving team focused on all end-to-end aspects of transactions and executing transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Drafting terms sheets, discussion papers and presentations for internal and external use.
  • Lead the management and monitoring of a portfolio of existing assets, to ensure accurate reporting and monitoring for Risk and Compliance purposes.
  • Providing direction, purpose and support to the team - challenging and inspiring them to develop their capabilities.
  • Being active in market, building BNZ's presence through relationships with key influencers such as directors, senior management, advisors, and industry bodies, to originate new opportunities.

Ō Pūkenga | About You

We are looking for a highly regarded banking professional, who has a sound understanding of accounting, legal and tax issues, and financial modelling. Ideally, you will have proven people leadership capabilities, with the ability to lead and inspire others.

To be successful in this role you will also have:
  • Experience in the structuring and negotiation of Project Finance and/or complex transactions with an excellent understanding of risk allocation, credit assessment and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills - with the ability to present information in a clear and structured manner, both verbally and in writing, to influence the audience.
  • A deep understanding of the market and a strong professional network, with the ability to build and develop solid relationships.
