Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA or Authority) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position will be responsible for directing and coordinating all accounting and financial reporting activities, while providing support to the Chief Financial Officer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Works in collaboration with the Director of Finance to optimally design, implement and maintain PCCA financial information systems; supervises the enforcement and maintenance of the classification of accounts Maintains effective internal controls to assure the safeguarding of assets and reliability of financial statements Oversees the performance of the independent annual audit and preparation of PCCA year-end financial statements Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulatory reporting requirements, governmental accounting standards, bond covenants and generally accepted accounting principles Supervises the preparation and compilation of all financial reports covering PCCA financial position and results of operations, special reports, statements, statistics and other data required by law or requested by management Coordinates and implements the inclusion of all departmental financial information necessary for recording PCCA general operations Coordinates, implements, and administers banking arrangements with PCCA depository banks Develops implementation and administers PCCA cash management, investment policies, and procedures Prepares and compiles financial reports for PCCA Employee Benefit Plan Trust Coaches, trains, evaluates performance, and performs disciplinary measures as         needed on department staff; makes recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, terminations, work assignments and pay increases Maintains good employee relations, assists with conflict resolution process and assists subordinates in day-to-day work issues; initiates a plan to motivate staff to          achieve work goals Performs related duties as assigned CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment Tier 1 Emergency Management status designation

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The preferred candidate for this position should be an organized, thorough, and disciplined individual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:

EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting from an accredited college or university required Certification as a CPA preferred Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment Valid driver’s license

EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Seven years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including five years of supervisory accounting and office management experience Knowledge and proficiency with automated financial systems required; experience with JD Edwards preferred

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to effectively interact, negotiate and exercise discretion Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to use analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive management style Ability to utilize mature judgment, sound time management, initiative, problem solving and organizational skills Ability to prepare and present clear, concise presentations in written or verbal form Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and other related applications Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies; promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal laws Ability to maintain good employee relations, encourage and foster a helpful environment where teamwork prevails. Assists senior management and office staff where appropriate

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to perform essential job functions in a general office environment, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to communicate verbally, in writing and over devices such as phones and mobile phones Ability to operate mechanical and electrical equipment and light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
