Our client, based in Portsmouth, are a globally active technical insurance brand looking for a Financial Controller to join their growing and innovative team.

Description

• Responsibility for the oversight of client/insurer money collection
• Leadership and management of the Finance team.
• Development of systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the company's finances and recommend changes that will improve the company's financial performance and financial controls
• Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the groups accounting records and financial systems. Maintaining Sage and ensuring all updates are carried out.
• Preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash flows and continued monitoring & review performance against them.
• Act as the main point of contact to internal group and external auditors providing all required information. To include organisation of the annual audit for all companies.
• Preparation of timely reporting of group results to SPB Group including reconciliation and upload of accounts to Opera.
• Ensuring all PAYE, VAT and other returns for the Company are calculated accurately and submitted to the HRMC on a timely basis.

Profile

The successful candidate will adopt a proactive, positive approach in all dealings with staff and customer issues promptly and positively, making appropriate decisions and taking appropriate action as required. The candidate will have:

* Experience in job roles such as; SME Finance Director / Financial Controller / CFO/ Assistant Finance Controller / FC / Deputy FC / FD
* Qualification - ACA / ACCA / CIMA
* Extensive relevant technical and commercial financial experience.
* Track record of leading and developing high performing teams
* Ability to use computer-based accounting systems such as SAGE
* Full and up to date knowledge of accounting legislation and UK GAAP (FRS102)
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* A track record of implementing/leading successful change programmes in finance
* Demonstrable communication skills complete with high standards of accuracy and presentation
* Attention to detail with the ability to challenge and interrogate data and information
* High levels of IT and internet-literacy, especially in web research, MS Office applications
* Numerate - High levels of numeracy including the ability to audit and interrogate
* Report writing
* Experience in the Insurance Industry is preferable but not essential
