Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
The role of the Senior Information Analyst in Data Services is to analyse health and disability information from Health NZ's National Collections, and make this data publicly available. The role also supports the use of R throughout the agency, with a focus on training and mentoring other analysts and data scientists.
You will be working with a team of analysts. You will gather requirements, and prepare information products, data visualizations, and publications to meet the needs of a variety of audiences, including researchers, health service providers, and the general public. You will support people to understand published data and trends, using your specialist knowledge about health data. You will also be involved in analyzing trends, and developing key findings across publications. Part of your role will be to prepare Tier 1 Statistics for health. As a Senior analyst, you will mentor and train more junior team members. You will also be a technical specialist for using R and R Shiny, providing support across the agency.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate excellent technical expertise in R, and ideally have previous experience with R Shiny; experience and knowledge in data science; mentoring and training skills; and strong project planning, communication, relationship building, and teamwork skills. Previous experience with health data would be an advantage, but is not required. This role can be an opportunity for people with great R skills to take the next step in their career.
