We have an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of a dynamic team that delivers a complete Activity Based Costing solution for the New Zealand Customs Service to use as an important decision-making tool. You will gain a complete understanding of how Customs' operates and the important work that we do. You will work closely with the business to ensure appropriate data is compiled about the activities we perform and how much these cost.

Customs has completed the implementation of an Activity Based Costing (ABC) model to cost the various activities and services undertaken at Customs based on ABC best principles and is now seeking a team to run the on-going operation. We are looking for a manager of the unit and this position, which reports to the manager.

About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

The role is key to maintaining a fit for purpose model that will provide detailed accurate ABC information for performance improvement and management. The position will take the lead on significant aspects of data collection and initiate and contribute to the development of the software and design of the model. The role will co-ordinate business as usual maintenance and updates of the system to reflect organisational changes as they occur.

To be successful in this role the following knowledge, experience, skills and personal attributes are required:

* A tertiary qualification (at least equivalent to Bachelors) in finance or a relevant discipline;
* Previous experience as a Management Accountant, Cost Accountant or Systems Accountant;
* Ideally, knowledge of Activity Based Costing Methodology and exposure to ABC software.
