Staff Accountant

Reporting to the CFO, the Staff Accountant directs all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, audits, tax filings, payroll and internal controls over said areas. Assists with annual budgets, forecasts and reporting on key indicators as well as supervision of 2-3 direct reports. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY
  • Maintain in a timely and accurate manner the general ledger and register through reconciliation of source documents.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, arrange for electronic transfer of funds and monitor cash accounts daily.
  • Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items.
  • Assists the CFO in the preparation of operational reports for management analysis, including aging accounts receivables and payables, cash position, and financials. Some reporting on a weekly basis to Sr. Management team and other key personnel within the company.
  • Receive and record requests for disbursements; authorize disbursements in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and present financial reporting and potential risk areas to senior management.
  • Assists the CFO in the preparation of Management month-end closing, and record necessary entries (recurring & non-recurring) to complete financials for multiple related entities.
  • Assist CFO in budgeting, projects, and reporting.
  • Assists the CFO in the preparation of Project Cash flow forecasts.

SECONDARY
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with company policies, state and federal requirements and statutes.
  • Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations in order to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed and recommend benchmarks for measuring performance of departments and branches.
  • Assist with additional duties and special projects as assigned by the CFO


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in accounting or related field, preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in accounting management roles with 2+ years' experience in construction accounting preferred.
  • Mastery of GAAP accounting in a construction environment using percentage completion method for revenue recognition preferred.
  • Experience with advanced ERP accounting software, Viewpoint Spectrum experience highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and an attention to detail required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of initiative and flexibility required to successfully accommodate deadlines
  • Ability to maintain data integrity and accuracy and use data to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks within a defined time period.
  • Exceptional Excel skills including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Charts, Queries, Index Match, and Advanced Conditional Formatting.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting with prolonged periods of sedentary activity. Must be able to sit/stand at desk and work at a computer for prolonged periods of time

  • Physical Activities: Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. occasionally

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 per year DOE
