What Your Job Will Be Like:

 

Organization 10522, Financial Policy, Performance, & Assurance, is currently seeking a Financial Policy & Compliance Accountant to join their team of accounting and business experts!

The selected candidate will ensure the efficient and effective management of financial policies, assist with risk management through internal controls, perform assurance of compliance with standards, and assist with the maturity of the quality management system for the Finance & Accounting/CFO Center.

On any given day, one may be called upon to:

  • Partner in the Cost Accounting Area, including Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) administration

  • Engage in data analytics related to the scope of work

  • Immerse in data visualization to communicate the results of data analytics and other activities

  • Assist with risk and internal controls activities

  • Act as a CFO Audit Liaison coordinator to support customers and internal/ external auditors

  • Support Center Strategic Objectives and Milestones

The selected applicant may qualify to be a virtual worker, located in any U.S. State or District of Columbia. Regular or periodic travel to your assigned work location may be required.

Work in this organization is performed under the supervision of one or more Certified Public Accountants and will meet the requirements for practical work experience to obtain a New Mexico certified public accountant’s license, if not already licensed.

Qualifications We Require:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a relevant field, plus 5 years related experience; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job

  • Experience with workpaper and documentation requirements

  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • The ability to lead, collaborate, and present to internal and external partners with varying levels of experience and expertise

  • An understanding of applicable standards and regulations, such as federal and U.S. DOE acquisition regulations, DOE Financial Management Handbook, Cost Accounting Standards, financial policy structure, DCAA ICE Model, and U.S. Government Auditing Standards

  • The ability to correlate finance and accounting practices to compliance requirements

  • Knowledge of auditing standards, techniques, and documentation requirements

  • Knowledge and an understanding of internal control systems

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Data visualization, strong communication skills, and organization skills

  • Advanced data analytics and data literacy skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • A willingness to learn new technology

Security Clearance:

 

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
