Job Summary

 

Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team.

 

 

 

The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller. This is a year-round, benefits eligible position. Ideal candidates must have a B.S. in Accounting and 3-4 years prior accounting experience, preferably with a minimum of two years in public and one year in private. This is a high volume, fast-paced environment that requires fast and accurate typing skills with a strong attention to detail.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

Responsible for assisting the Controller with the full cycle of accounting including month/year end closing and weekly/monthly/year end reporting. Specific responsibilities include the following:

 

 

 

Manage the Staff Accountant and Accounting Assistant Lead the monthly and annual financial close processes for four LLC’s Lead the daily preparation and input of journal entries Lead the preparation of accurate bank and GL reconciliations Lead the preparation of the LLC monthly reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Preparation of the monthly Budget to Actual variance analysis Monthly financial statement reviews with Dept Heads, as assigned. Preparation and filing of the monthly/annual sales and use tax, amusement tax, occupancy tax and gross receipts tax Assist with supporting documents and schedules for annual external audit Assist with annual budget process Assist with special projects as assigned Other duties as assigned  

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting 3-4 years prior accounting experience in both Public and Private Accounting with a minimum of 2 years in public accounting and one year in private accounting Minimum of one year of management experience Proficient with MS Office programs Previous Netsuite or other ERP experience preferred Prior experience with Tableau is a plus Prior experience in the outdoor industry, retail, lodging or restaurants is a plus Ability and willingness to travel to both accounting office locations (Asheville and Bryson City) and to other NOC Rafting Outpost locations on an as needed/as directed basis.
