The Company

My client is a NZ success story. With a well recognised brand in the North Island of NZ, this company has expansion plans and a well regarded product range and brand new offices. A huge amount of work has gone into getting this business to this point however this is a massive opportunity now to join as Head of Finance to continue the expansion and the family legacy. With circa 100 staff, this business is based in Highbrook with multiple showrooms/stores across the North Island.

The Role

The role of Head of Finance will report to the MD/owner and will be critical to helping this business with both commercial and financial support as well as getting involved in operational matters. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Provide input into strategic framework & operational direction, being an active member of the SLT
  • Review & oversee the production of year end financial statements in conjunction with the external Accountant
  • Provide regular cashflow reporting, maintaining any reporting requirements due to external funding and continuing to advise on funding structures/options
  • Preparation of business case analysis on CAPEX requirements
  • Oversee month end management reporting process, providing insights for Board reporting and management decision making
  • Oversee tax obligations of the business
  • Prepare annual budgets and track accordingly
  • Provide leadership and management of the Finance team of four
  • Ensure contracts are reviewed as required
  • Manage the company property portfolio ensuring leases are reviewed and new leases are managed in accordance with policy
  • Manage company insurance reviews & risk
  • Oversee IT strategy & manage the outsourced provider solution
  • Oversee HR & Health & Safety
  • Oversee operations around merchandising, logistics and stock management
  • Provide guidance to the SLT on all financial matters as the family progresses through generational ownership structures.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.


Your Profile

To be considered for this role, we are looking for an individual who is proven in a similar capacity in prior roles. You will have worked in a role where you can demonstrate having worked not only in Finance but across functions such as inventory control, logistics, warehousing, HR & IT, H&S and the like.

You will need to bring your operational strengths as well as your ability to look strategically at the business. As the owner is looking to retire in the foreseeable years and pass this organisation down to the next generation who are already actively working in the business, we are looking for an individual who is genuine about the family interests, can bring a level of maturity and thought leadership. You will need to bring skills that can help transfer of the inter-generational succession planning as well as strategic thinking.
