In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Perpetual Corporate Trust Accounting team in providing accurate and timely accounting services for unregistered managed investment schemes (MITs) and securitisation vehicles. This client facing role provides a unique opportunity to work with global fund managers, private equity and alternative asset management firms, banks and non-bank lending institutions.

  • Assist in the preparation of periodic management accounts and annual financial statements
  • Calculate trust distributions and prepare distribution statements
  • Perform account reconciliations and prepare journals
  • Preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS)
  • Assist with the audit of annual financial statements
  • Assist with review of trust tax returns and Annual Investment Income reports
  • Assist with preparation of budgets and liquidity forecasts
  • Respond to accounting enquiries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the Trust Accountants on the delivery of Trust accounting services
  • Maintain relationships with clients
  • Provide support to team members, senior accounting manager and general manager on projects and other key initiatives

To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills and experience could include:

  • University accounting degree and studying towards being a qualified accountant
  • 1.5+ years experience in chartered accounting firm (required)
  • Auditing experience would be an advantage
  • Working knowledge of managed funds and Securitisation (not a requirement but is an advantage)
  • Understanding of tax legislation for trusts in Australia would be an advantage
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Accounting Systems (XERO)
  • High attention to detail
  • Sound analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Capable of multi tasking
  • Problem solving skills
  • Time management skills
  • Interest in process optimisation
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Possess relationship building skills with internal and external counterparts.
