JOB DESCRIPTION:

Golden 1 Credit Union offers a personalized experience for interns. Our goal is to give interns a glimpse of what it is like working for a fast-growing, diverse, and exceptional financial institution. Our 8-week internship program will consist of department specific job duties/projects, as well as professional development workshops, networking sessions with G1 leaders, and an end of the internship team project that will be presented to senior executives.

The Audit Services Department Intern will be tasked with assisting in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. Internal Audit partners with management to improve the control environment and to assist in the identification and improved management of business risks. We provide an independent point of view to help ensure that: operations are run efficiently and effectively; assets are safeguarded; policies, procedures and regulations are being adhered to; and financial transactions are appropriately recorded.

The Audit Services Intern will observe and participate in all phases of the audit process - planning, fieldwork, report writing, issue tracking and retesting. This will include interviews, walkthroughs of business processes, documenting the results, accessing G1CU systems for sample testing, entering results into our audit software tool, and participating in meetings to present our audit results to business process owners. Exposure to all types of audits performed - branch, compliance, financial, operational, and IT. Participate in several of the branch audits - planning, pre-visit testing, documenting results, entering results into our audit software tool, and participating in closing discussions. They will work with standards and regulatory guidance documentation to assess alignment of business practice to industry standards. They will participate in department meetings and internal audit training sessions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

•Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student as defined by the school, organization, or institution.

•GPA of at least a 3.2

•Junior & Senior standing in the Fall.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW AND DETAILS:

•Intern Program: Intern must be available for the duration of the 8-week program.

•Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm

•Golden 1 Credit Union does not provide any form of housing reimbursement or relocation package for interns.

LOCATION:

This position is currently remote but is subject to change to an in-person role depending on CDC and CAL/OSHA guidelines and regulations.
