Role Responsibilities Key roles and

responsibilities:

The candidate will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the financial reporting landscape and will:

  • Work closely with the Head, Financial Reporting in owning the end-to-end delivery of the Annual and Half Year accounts as well as quarterly disclosures
  • Drive through changes to reporting requirements by owning the preparation of "Proforma" financial reports and ensuring the implementation of new IFRSs and Accounting Policies in conjunction with the Technical Accounting team
  • Own the Group Reporting procedures and policies to be followed by country finance teams for IFRS reporting
  • Work closely with Risk Finance colleagues to understand the intricacies around ECL and the broader risk disclosures.
  • Challenge the status quo with focus on continuous performance improvement
  • Actively participate in project governance and demonstrate thought leadership in respect of Group Financial Reporting's role in Finance Transformation (Aspire including "F Enhanced") and other projects requiring external reporting expertise
Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Ownership of the reporting timetable and ensuring alignment across all relevant teams (Tax, Risk, FP&A, Cosec, IR and Countries)
  • Collaborate with other leads in Group Finance to co-ordinate the reporting process
  • Accountable for liaison with Country Finance teams to improve the reporting process
  • Accountable for the preparation of a business focused, concise analytical review (FRAPA) together with a detailed understanding of the disclosures made throughout the Annual report
  • Responsible for preparation of Audit Committee papers and other relevant financial information for the Managing Board and Audit Committee
  • Liaison with external auditors to support the resolution of accounting and reporting issues faced by countries and completion of Group audit process

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Chartered Accountant or MBA with relevant finance experience, especially in consolidation of financials.
  • Strong understanding of financial industry, specifically banking products and services
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • High sense of independence and accountability
  • Very strong analytical skills and ability to problem solve
  • Non-hierarchical and collaborative team player
  • Inquisitive, self-starter and natural networker
