Finance Assistant

Following on from our client's recent acquisition, we are proud to be working on their behalf to recruit a Finance Assistant. The individual must have a friendly, can-do attitude, that can work on their own initiative as well as part of a team. A team player is vital for success

About the role

This role will suit someone with experience of working in a finance team looking at effective management of customer contracts, along with maintenance and management of the fixed asset register.

Key Tasks include:


• Maintaining the Fixed Asset register


• Onboarding new customers into our accounts package


• Posting of accounting journals


• Raising invoices


• Posting of purchase invoices and allocation of payments


• Paying vendor/supplier invoices and tracking bank account balances


• Chasing overdue invoices


• Ensure all deadlines are met and work prepared appropriately


• Respond to business finance enquiries when necessary


• Assist in VAT returns


• Other administrative duties when required

About You


• Minimum 2 years of finance experience


• AAT qualified or working towards an accounting qualification


• Proactive: Can-do attitude. Problem solver, using systems and expertise on behalf of the business and/or employees


• Organised: Able to manage multiple tasks, often to a timeline


• Strong on Technology - Excellent at Excel, experienced in other MS Office programmes, SAP, Xero and other financial software experience would be beneficial


• Quality-oriented: Committed to accuracy and attention to detail.


• Team player: Promotes mutual communication and relationships. Shares information smoothly with others. Supports others.


• Flexibility: Can easily adapt to a changing environment, working methods, working hours, tasks, responsibilities, and behaviours of others.


• Friendly: Ability to 'muck in' as part of a fast-growing team with an 'all hands-on deck' approach


• Excel Savvy: Have good working knowledge of Excel

What's On Offer:


• Full time role, with an option for flexible/hybrid solutions for the right candidate


• Annual salary of £24,000 - £26,000 depending on experience


• Study Package for professional exams (up to £3,000 per annum)


• Participation in team bonus scheme


• Pro Rata 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays


• In-house training, with external support as needed
