Payroll Assistant with a difference. Your role in the payroll team will ensure that the Percy Hedley Foundation care staff are remunerated correctly and on time. It is a vital service to help over 1000 staff come to work motivated and provide the best care they can to service users. How often will you get the opportunity to directly impact the lives of many people for the better? The Percy Hedley Foundation has been providing services to people with complex medical and behavioural needs for almost 70 years. We believe all people with disabilities should be supported to live their lives to the full. Each year highly specialist, bespoke care is provided to children, young people, and adults. Service provisions are delivered in educational, vocational, therapeutic, and residential settings. They are designed to strengthen senses, communication skills, and abilities, helping people with disabilities to learn and live well. The department is going through a restructure due to the ongoing implementation of the new finance and purchasing system, as well as further ongoing development of the existing integrated Payroll system, and you are needed to play a key role in the delivery of finance reporting to the Foundation. This means that you will all learn together, so no need to feel like the new recruit.

And you'll be able to have your influence on improving processes during this learning phase, with the goal to create a smooth-running finance function for the Foundation. There is a spirit of continuous improvement, so there are always opportunities to develop the ways of working. You'll get 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, an exclusive employee reward scheme, wellbeing scheme and up to 5% matched contributions to your pension. You'll also get a flexibility around a core working pattern, allowing you to make some time for commitments outside of work, especially given the routine nature of the payroll function. You'll support the Payroll Manager in the processing of monthly payroll for all staff, including salary changes, overtime, and statutory payments, all while adhering to strict timelines. There are different terms, conditions and pay scales so it is important that you are highly organised to keep track of both the wider requirements and the individual staff circumstances where needed. You'll work closely with the team and will be based in the Foundation's college, so communication and people skills are a must, as you will interact with many different people. Most importantly, you will understand the values and purpose of the Foundation, you will care about people and ensuring they receive the care and services they need. And you'll understand the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. The post will only be offered to successful candidates subject to an Enhanced DBS check and, as part of government legislation, it will become mandatory for workers in our Central Services to be double-vaccinated, so you'll need to show evidence of this.
