Gear4music is looking for an exceptional leader to define and implement a people and culture strategy for our diverse team of over 500 people, located across five countries.

We're looking for someone who really gets who we are - we have musicians and music lovers in every team throughout our whole business. The Group Director will help our teams feel even more part of our story, and even prouder about working at Gear4music.

An experienced and innovative person, you'll work with senior leadership to drive positive change at Gear4music and support our teams in delivering the business' needs and long-term goals.

Your goal is to develop an inclusive and energising environment, and high-performance culture - you'll be a people focussed person, with a commercial brain.

Who we are

Launched in 2003, we're a vibrant and fast-growing company with a passion for music. We really care about our people and want them to grow with us in an open and supportive environment.

We have a large team with many different needs and personalities, across a wide range of different focus areas, including marketing, logistics, technology, and customer service.

We want to provide our customers with the best online shopping experience in music, wherever they are in Europe.

Who you are

The successful candidate is likely to have previously worked at board level within a medium to large retail business, across multiple sites and countries. Presenting and reporting at board level, you'll have excellent communication skills, be a great leader, and have significant business and financial acumen. Defining and developing our culture, employee engagement and communication strategies with energy and empathy; we're looking for someone who shares our passion for music.

This is an exciting time to join Gear4music as we deliver our expansion plans. We are looking for an outstanding person who can support our existing people teams and help take our business to the next level.

What we are looking for

It would be great if these statements were the perfect description of you, but we'd still like to hear from you if you don't quite tick them all:

  • You've been on the board of a medium to large business
  • You've worked across a group portfolio, spanning the UK and Europe
  • You've worked in a retail business, ideally eCommerce
  • You're able to define and drive people and culture strategy, across multiple jurisdictions, to support long-term growth
  • You've been involved in mergers and acquisitions, including integrating teams upon completion
  • You have strong business acumen and are comfortable with managing large budgets
  • You are a great communicator, who is self-motivated and passionate about achieving results
  • You can take a long-term vision and turn it into short, achievable action plans
  • You've worked across a broad range of HR disciplines, platforms, projects, and industries
  • You know how to develop and improve internal communications across a group of companies
  • You've got an interest in playing, recording or experiencing music

We welcome an informal chat if you want to find out more about Gear4music, the role and how it could be the next great move for you. If you're ready to further your career with a dynamic, growing company, where you can expect to be rewarded for your hard work - why not apply today?

We're an equal opportunities employer and are keen to have diverse representation at all levels. We consider all applicants and make decisions based on merit, but we encourage female candidates to apply.
