What Your Job Will Be Like:

Contract Audit Department staff-members perform audits on supplier contract proposals prior to contract award, and perform cost incurred audits for ongoing or completed cost reimbursable contracts. They also conduct reviews of supplier's accounting and financial systems/processes and evaluate supplier's financial system capabilities to assess risk. Contract Auditors provide financial consulting and accounting services to line organizations and the procurement organization in connection with negotiation, administration, and settlement of contracts.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Conduct audits by examining and verifying, through review or observation, accounting, statistical, operational, and procedural records and practices of internal and external organizations to determine the reliability and effectiveness of controls and risk mitigation efforts.

  • Review audit work papers and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and logical conclusions to provide tools for effective risk mitigation through the implementation and adherence to recognized auditing standards.

  • Examine records to ensure proper recording of transactions and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, agreements, and policies.

  • Conduct the audit and prepare reports of findings and recommendations to management and other entities.

  • Participate in risk assessments in support of annual audit plan and specific audits.

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to business practices, processes, and control procedures.

This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

This position requires the willingness and ability to travel nationwide up to 5% of the year.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business field, plus, (5) years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Two or more years of auditing experience or similar assessment experience as well as the ability to acquire and maintain professional audit certification.

  • Thirty semester hours of accounting course work.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, FAR, DEAR and standard contract terms and conditions.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • A Master’s Degree in business with at least (30) semester hours of Accounting.

  • Active CPA, CFE, CIA or similar related certification is highly desirable.

  • Prior experience as a financial analyst and/or in supply chain management would be beneficial.

  • Knowledge of Federal acquisition policy, internal controls, and process improvement are looked upon favorably.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • A proven history as the member of a results-oriented team.

  • Demonstrated ability of good oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management and staff.

  • Hands-on experience working with business systems.

We provide Procurement and technical organizations the necessary accounting and financial services needed in the negotiation, administration, and settlement of costs for auditable contracts and subcontracts.

Security Clearance:

Position Information:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
