TEAM

Sitting within Finance, the Treasury team are responsible for the management of financial risk for the business including foreign exchange, commodity, interest rate and funding risks. We pride ourselves on our continual innovation and constant development towards process improvement to best support the successful operation of the business.

The role sits within the ‘Middle Office’ area of the team who are collectively responsible for Treasury related accounting, reporting, systems and ensuring that an effective control environment is maintained for all Treasury activities. We operate tight controls around everything we do ensuring that as a team we adhere to mandated Treasury policy.

 

JOB PURPOSE

  • This position is a pivotal role in the Treasury team. Based in Luton, the role is key to ensuring a strong control framework and effective day to day operation in the easyJet treasury team
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational day to day processes of key ‘back office’ Treasury activities. This includes responsibility for making all Treasury related payments (related to debt, derivatives, leases and other business critical items), confirmation matching of derivative trades, breach report monitoring and posting daily Treasury accounting entries.
  • Working with the Banking team to ensure that all Treasury payments are accounted for correctly. This includes helping on specific areas when necessary that fall under the scope of the Treasury Team (e.g. fleet financing, credit cards, intercompany transactions, letters of credit and bank guarantees).   
  • Provide support to the Treasury Accountant and Treasury Manager with data analysis, reporting and month end accounting as required
  • Focus on process improvements and control enhancement, in particular how we utilise a new Treasury Management System (TMS)
  • As a key member of the treasury Middle Office team you will enjoy building strong working relationships with internal (e.g. all areas of finance) and external stakeholders (e.g. counterparty banks).

 

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Accounting
 

  • Ensure accurate and complete daily transaction postings for treasury related payments are entered into the general ledger
  • Assist with the cash flow forecasting process by actualising forecasts, providing accurate cash movements and working with team members to fully understand all bank movements
  • Support the Treasury Accountant and Treasury Manager with ad-hoc and month end postings on highly intricate items related to derivatives (including hedge accounting), debt and interest items.
     

Control/Regulation
 

  • Ensure all executed derivative trades are fully ‘confirmed’ and agreed with counterparty banks on a timely basis within SLA’s (either electronically or via paper contracts)
  • Maintaining and updating the Treasury dealing mandate
  • Ensure all transactions and trades made by Front Office are in line with the Treasury Policy and using initiative to challenge any unusual trading activity.
  • Monitoring/reviewing of daily and monthly policy compliance reporting and explaining breaches to management
  • Ensure adherence to EMIR, by performing reconciliation at month end through designated confirmation tool with all counterparty banks. To be able to challenge and chase down when items are incorrect or outstanding on a timely basis
  • Enhancing the Back Office control framework and driving of process improvements at every opportunity
  • Support in the administration of key Treasury systems


Payments
 

  • Instruct all treasury related payments accurately, on time and operating within a strict control environment
  • Assist in the management of the issuance of bank guarantees and security deposits
  • Ensure accuracy of static data information (e.g. bank account information, FX Rates etc) in Treasury Management System
  • Monitor and liaise with counterparty banks to ensure all derivative settlement receipts are received to the correct amounts and on time. Where this isn’t the case, investigate via relationship contacts with banks.
  • Support with the KPI reporting of Back Office performance, e.g. number of payment rejects/late payments/late payment charges

 

Other Ad Hoc
 

  • Assisting on ad-hoc projects (TMS implementation, accounting projects, system changes)
  • Working closely with both the Treasury Front Office and Banking teams.
  • Develop accounting stills from studying towards an accounting qualification

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

Strong intellect and is either a graduate or a part qualified accountant in ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent qualification.

  • Critical to have a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High degree of numeracy and understanding of basic finance concepts.
  • Previous experience of working within any element of Treasury preferable but not essential.
  • Proven track record of delivering process improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to constructively challenge whilst being able to build strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Ability to work under pressure (dealing with large payments in the 100’s of millions) to tight deadlines and capable of managing numerous work streams at the same time.
  • Possesses enthusiasm to learn with the ability to work well as part of a team and cover for other team members.
  • Studying towards an accounting qualification highly preferred however not essential.  Successful applicant will be expected to enter into studies towards a full accounting qualification (supported by easyJet).

 

LOCATION & HOURS OF WORK

This full-time role will be based in Luton and will be 40 hours per week.
