About the role
The Assistant Accountant is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely posting of all box office journals and the reconciliation of Ticketing debtors, ensuring all revenue is accurately recorded and receipted. In addition, this role is responsible for corporate accounting and other administrative duties including capital expenditure, fixed assets, GST, ABS surveys, P&L analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.

Key areas of focus
  • Upload and post Tessitura import files each day and maintain the Tessitura/SUN transfer desk;
  • Post monthly Box Office journals including the capture and deferral of future seasons revenue and costs and subsequent release of these as required when seasons commence;
  • Maintain the transfer desk mapping tool including setting up new GL codes
  • Reconcile and monitor Tourism receivables including posting Tourism banking journals;
  • Reconcile credit card debtors on a monthly basis ensuring all credit sales are accurately receipted
  • Prepare refund reconciliations
  • Prepare APRA box office royalty calculations as required
  • Perform assigned balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis;
  • Profit and loss analysis, posting journals and investigating variances to forecast
  • Assist with the annual audit of OA and controlled/associated entities as required;
  • Preparation of FBT and Withholding tax return
  • Coordinate OA's capital expenditure requests, year to date spend against budget and forecasting
  • Maintain the OA Fixed Assets Register and post all journals in relation to Fixed Assets including monthly depreciations, additions, disposals etc
  • Prepare and submit the OA BAS on a monthly basis
  • Assist in the implementation of integral projects alongside other duties as requested by management
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required at the request of the Finance Manager or Group Financial Controller
  • Assist the Finance Manager in improving processes, internal controls, driving change and meeting deadlines.

Our ideal candidate will have
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting or other related field
  • Professional qualification (CA, CPA) is preferred but not essential
  • 3+ years' proven experience in a similar role
  • Experience with dealing with management and being able to interpret numbers
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication, self-management and excellent organisational skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
