ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant is an integral part of the finance team and assists the CFO to manage tax and accounting compliance as well as supporting payroll activities.

Initially this position will manage the payroll function during a period of maternity leave, following which the role will continue to provide support to this area but on an ad hoc basis.

Key responsibilities of the role
  • Fortnightly end to end payroll processing
  • Quarterly commission and bonus payments
  • Preparation of employment contracts and maintenance of employee data
  • Month end activity including journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monthly and quarterly management reporting
  • Preparation of statutory obligations including payroll tax, PAYG and superannuation
  • Tax return preparation for various entities
  • Liaison for external auditors
  • Maintenance of asset register
  • Support with board reporting and the budgeting cycle
  • Financial and operational reporting
  • Assisting with other ad hoc finance tasks as required
ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a friendly, motivated Accountant who has a proven track record of achieving outstanding results in a high-pressure and autonomous environment. You will demonstrate excellent organisation skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt and meet tight deadlines.

To be successful in this role your require:
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a payroll and accounting role
  • Understanding of finance and employment legislation and regulations, including Modern Awards, NES and the Fair Work Act
  • Knowledge of accounting standards
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Excel and MYOB
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional and positive attitude
