Assistant Accountant 37 Hours Per Week

Your new company An expanding company, who due to a new structure and internal promotions are looking to recruit an Accountant to work with the Head of Finance and grow the business further.

Your new role Reporting to the Head of Finance you will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day accounts processing for the business - up to and including the preparation of the management accounts. Key duties will include:


  • Providing support to the Head of Finance to ensure the smooth running of the finance function, co-ordinating the finance team workload, delegating and monitoring tasks to ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner.
  • Carry out control account and statement reconciliations, month end journals including month end payroll procedures.
  • Support and co-ordinate the induction and training of new members of the finance team.
  • Carry out and support all Finance Officer tasks as below.
  • Maintaining the day to day financial and accounting records, providing internal reports to management when required.
  • Preparation of monthly wages and salaries, including SMP, SSP, mileage and expenses, submitting PAYE and pension deductions to HMRC and the company pension scheme provider.
  • Maintaining attachment of earnings records, submitting monthly deductions to DWP, CAPS, HM Courts & Tribunal Service, and Local Council.
  • Raising Sales Invoices and maintaining debtor accounts.
  • Importing monthly payments to the sales ledger, posting income received, carrying out monthly credit control, calculating final payments.
  • Inputting supplier invoices to the purchase ledger, finalising and processing BACS payment upload, emailing remittance advice to suppliers.



What you'll need to succeed You will be AAT Qualified, Part Qualified CIMA or Qualified by Experience with significant experience of running a finance department. A knowledge of Sage 50 would be an advantage and Excel is essential.

What you'll get in return You will be offered a permanent full time contract and in time the potential to expand the role and take on more of the current Head of Finance duties.
