What the role is all about…

We are looking for a curious, detail oriented individual who combines solid accounting and tax acumen with an energetic and open mindset to join the Epoch Finance team. This self-starter will join our small and close knit team and help to support day-to-day operations whilst working with our automation engineer to systematise these processes. The ideal person will be a great communicator who loves working with a diverse group of people as well as rolling up their sleeves and solving problems.

What your main responsibilities will be…

Financial Control
  • Contributing to key general ledger controls such as monthly balance sheet, banking and intercompany reconciliations for Epoch's various global locations
  • Completion of monthly journals, fixed assets and depreciation schedules
  • Ensuring IFRS accounting standards and internal policies are adhered to
  • Assisting team members with operational aspects of the purchase to pay cycle (POs, AP, credit cards)
  • Preparing audit support material and responding to audit queries
  • Assist with the preparation of year end financial statements

Tax
  • Collaborating with the Finance Managers to compile AU, UK and USA tax calculations (monthly), submission (monthly) and returns (annual)
  • GST/VAT reporting

Treasury
  • Owning the daily cash flow reporting process.

FP&A
  • Assisting Finance Managers with ad hoc company performance analysis as requested by Epoch leadership.

Strategy
  • Identifying potential improvement opportunities in day-to-day work and raising these with the wider team
  • Contributing to continual process improvement and automation initiatives
  • Proactively identifying new initiatives that could benefit the organisation.


To be successful in this role, these are the essential skills you need…
  • Working towards CA or CPA qualification
  • Honest and open communication skills
  • A willingness to get stuck into the detail and learn the business from the ground up
  • Strong knowledge of of Microsoft Excel
  • The ability to see beyond what is immediately possible
  • Strong bias for team orientation
  • Innovative and forward thinking growth mindset
  • Humble and down to earth nature
  • Desire to take ownership of work


Ideally, you have the following experience…
  • Experience in the Big Four or a similar role within commerce

  • Financial Services experience
  • Process change management
  • An interest in coding
  • Exposure to Oracle Netsuite, or another cloud based ERP
