The Role

My client is a specialist UK lending and savings bank founded in 2009 to serve the needs of SMEs and individuals in the UK with a range of lending and savings products.

We are currently looking for an Enterprise Risk Manager who will play a key role in the delivery of key Group Risk obligations including the Risk Plan, the Bank's ICCAP, Risk Appetite, Capital Contingency Plan, Recovery Plan and Resolution Pack and Climate Change Implementation Plan. The Enterprise Risk Manager will support the Enterprise Risk Director in ensuring that the Bank's risk management framework is operating effectively and evidenced through an effective Enterprise Risk Management Committee. Ensuring that the Risk function's key obligations are delivered based on sound commercial and professional principles which supports the placement of customers at the heart of the Bank's activities and achieves its defined objectives whilst being underpinned by a framework of prudent and effective controls which enable risk to be assessed, managed and controlled.

Responsibilities

* Ensure the Risk function supports the Bank's customer facing areas in accurately identifying customer behaviours and needs resulting in appropriate products and services being created and distributed through effective channels that consistently deliver a customer experience which is centered on fair customer outcomes

* Support the challenge and development of short, medium and long-term strategies (including action plans and targets) for the Risk function, in line with the defined vision, mission, risk appetite and objectives of the Bank. Support the implementation for Risk function once approved.

* Support the implement strong standards and practice in terms of conduct for staff and compliance with the PRA/FCA's Statements of Principles and Code of Practice.

* Deliver in line with the Risk function's expectations for levels of professional conduct and integrity and ensure ethical values are respected throughout the delivery of its key obligations and initiatives, promote good behaviour setting an example in this regard

* Support the delivery of the Bank's framework for risk management and control and is implemented effectively within the Bank in line with the Board's risk appetite

* Support the Risk function's response to 3rd line of defence monitoring and external audit reports and recommendations and work with the Banks 3 Lines of Defence to define specific measurable requirements.

* Provide support to the assessment of the Risk function's principal risks and how they are then monitored, managed and controlled effectively and reported to Chief Risk Officer using appropriate internal controls aligned to Board risk appetite.

* Support the Enterprise Risk Director in the construction and embedding of risk appetite statements for Finance, Infrastructure, Reputation and Conduct for Board approval and implementation.

* Support the design, implementation and follow-up of the risk self-assessment process (1st Line Defence) in coordination with all the business functions ensuring that they have systems and procedures set up to implement and monitor the adherence to risk policies through effective reviews

* Deliver in line with the Bank's leadership principles and values.

* Ensure adherence to the promotion of Shawbrook values and good behaviour, fostering respect for other staff members, coherence within the bank and a positive team spirit.

* Ensures activities operate in accordance with the Bank's policies around Corporate Governance.

* Work in conjunction with other key staff implementing Board and Committee decisions whilst making valuable individual contributions as an operational committee member.

The Person

* Holder of university degree (Finance related) and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Strong Risk management experience gained in both SME environments, large corporates or Retail Financial within the Financial Services sector
