Job Purpose

The Business Assurance Analyst will report directly to the Head of Business Assurance and work closely with the team to develop and establish the internal audit framework programme focussing on the delivery of Corporate Entity, Enabling Department and project-based audits. The majority of the work will be based in UK/EU, however, there may be the requirement to cover the Middle East and Asia. Therefore, the job holder may be required to travel on company business and should be prepared to stay away from home (Covid dependent).

The preferred candidate will be required to deliver a three-dimensional service balancing value protection and value add activities to:

  • review and report on controls, processes and risk to the Head of Business Assurance, working with the team to standardise and improve the control environment and identify cost savings and efficiencies;
  • help coach, train, guide, share knowledge and best practice to help teams grow and take responsibility to improve their own control framework; and
  • assist with ad-hoc projects that add value, drive efficiency or reduce risk
  • Whilst this role covers a wide range of audit disciplines, we are particularly interested to hear from candidates who can speak German and/or have some IT software/hardware/systems/GDPR audit experience

    Key Responsibilities

    • Attend Business Unit sites/offices across the ISG business to conduct both financial e.g. balance sheet reviews, tax, expenses, payroll, IT etc. and operational audits e.g. governance & approvals, tender, contracts etc. Identifying key risks within the control framework, developing action plans and working with financial and non-financial people to drive business process improvement.
    • Collaboration with ISG teams to form effective working partnerships to help drive compliance, improvements, efficiency and reduce risk
    • Identifying and flagging key risks within the control framework & proposing mitigation or improvement strategies
    • Working with the Head of Business Assurance to set up and maintain an annual work plan
    • Report findings and suggestions for improvements to the Risk Committee and business lead
    • Working with the Head of Business Assurance to understand and address any feedback with regards to the control environment
    • Support projects/investigations on an ad-hoc basis as necessary
    • Deliver one to one coaching, training courses/presentations to help drive business process improvement, share new ideas, develop policy compliance.

    Qualifications

    • Part-qualified CA/ACCA or CIMA preferred, but not essential

    Skills & Experiences

    • Strong people and communication skills, confident working with senior managers
    • Internal Audit and finance/business process management background
    • Must have excellent commercial experience/awareness this role balances value protection' with value enhancement' to drive continuous improvement in the organisation
    • This role offers lots of variety of financial and non-financial audit, there is a bias towards commercial/operational business process.
    • German language skills, whilst not essential would be very useful
    • Experience of conducting IT audits software, hardware, systems, security etc.
    • Knowledge of data privacy (GDPR) and data security issues/audit experience
    • Experience of attending various sites/locations across a business/region and driving business process improvement is essential
    • The ability to work with people from all areas of the business (financial and non-financial), to explain/share ideas/improvements and coach/train and influence by winning hearts and minds' is key to success in this role
    • Must have a detailed, analytical approach to enable the identification of trends or anomalies. Ability to disseminate large amounts of information into succinct observations, risk areas and actions
    • Various system experience including accounting, business analysis tools
    • Experience of running training courses, one to one coaching sessions, comfortable delivering presentations to groups
    • Report writing and presentation skills
    • Must be logical, thorough and fact driven
    • Knowledge of the construction or fit-out business preferred but not essential
    • Driving Licence essential
