Serving as the key partner for the Business Unit Manager of the Motion business area, you will be a vital member of its finance team. You will help to set business strategy in line with wider division and product group strategies.

As a Business Controller you will Lead local accounting and reporting team to optimize financial accounting and reporting within MONM (Motion Business-Nema Motors) Division. Ensure monthly/ quarterly/ annual financial reporting is accurate for the MONM local and Global Division. Provide analysis where needed and be the primary local lead for accounting and reporting matters. Local key contact for ABB Way Finance Transformation Program.

Your responsibilities

  • Contributes to the definition of the LPP for the Division. Serves as the key finance partner for the Division controllers in determining LPP for area of responsibility (Cost Centers), aligning with wider strategy, implementing, and adjusting where needed. Maintains contact, where needed, with relevant other divisional managers and controllers regarding financial reporting and outlook.
  • Translates LPP into business plans, oversees the business planning process for the area of responsibility and serves as the interface to Country GBS and COE. Supports in evaluation of financial implications of various strategic decisions, scenarios and recommends actions.
  • Monitor financial progress achieved and provides insight and analysis to support operational decision-making. Identifies financial issues and advises management on action plans and operational strategies to resolve. Drives appropriate cost structure and capital efficiency.
  • Manages and closely monitors the cash flow and takes action to improve Net Working Capital. Serves as primary key contact for accounting and reporting matters for the local reporting unit.
  • Identifies and communicates financial risks and opportunities. Assist other Business Controllers in risk review procedures and processes in line with local and global policies and standards to minimize commercial and financial risks and exposure.
  • Establishes and oversees processes and tools necessary to obtain transparent and reliable financial data and business information. Ensures high quality of financial data and business information in line with defined standards and financial closing schedules.
  • Ensures transparency in financial reporting and disclosures. Defines and implements internal controls regarding financial and non-financial operations. Ensures compliance with corporate and country standards, regulations, and guidelines. Serves as key contact and supports internal and external audits.
  • Ensures timely and efficient communication with relevant Local/ Country/ Division Controllers, Accounting Center, and other internal customers to identify and discuss issues for improvement of financial reporting, operations, work quality and efficiency for area of responsibility.

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or accounting is required, CPA preferred AND 5+ years of accounting/finance experience.
  • Strong financial manager structured and results oriented leader with strong analytical and operational controlling skills.
  • Business oriented mindset to support business development and should be comfortable to travel occasionally as per business needs.
  • Strong Microsoft Office/ computer skills and previous SAP experience preferred.
  • Candidates must have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the USA.
