Corporate Finance has a vacancy for a Cost Accountant. Applications are invited from people meeting the qualifications and experience requirements set out below.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Cost Accountant position is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities to ensure Armscor procurement process results in a fair and economical outcome.
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS:

* Provide inputs on the reasonability of tariffs proposed by suppliers to assist in decision making.
* Support capital projects and other business improvement initiatives by providing business intelligence, financial analysis and (financial) functional inputs into planning & approval processes.
* Conduct Project cost analysis, and ensuring that areas of improvement are identified and improved.
* Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses in order to identify and eliminate bottlenecks.
* Assisting in generating appropriate best practice costing models for procurement processes.
* Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and affordability of products or services. Providing input on financial feasibility of special projects, ad hoc-inquiries, and related ad hoc-analyses.
* Generating reports highlighting trends analysis on various cost incurred as well as future predictions. Report on periodic variances and their causes in special projects.
* Provide support and advice to internal clients with regard to the budgeting process and queries on financial reports.
* Assist with ad hoc financial reporting requirements.
* Evaluation of monthly budget estimates.
QUALIFICATIONS:

* B Com Accounting / CIMA (with accounting or cost & management accounting as a major subject)
EXPERIENCE:

* 4 to 5 years' relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:

* Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act
* Strong business acumen
* Excellent knowledge on costing models
* Sound understanding of accounting principles
* Practical knowledge of management accounting
* Strong problem solving skills, negotiating skills, persuasive skills, sense of urgency & pro-activeness; coordinates and prioritizes requirements of multiple functional groups.
* Communication and presentation skills across all levels
