Full Time
  • Reviewing of corporate income tax calculations (South Africa and various non-RSA group companies).
  • Reviewing all corporate income tax return submissions and reconciliations of tax accounts for various non-RSA group companies.
  • Reviewing administration related to withholding taxes (including dividends, interest and technical fees) of RSA and non-RSA Group entities.
  • Preparing and reviewing quarterly, half year and year-end including but not limited to:
  • Calculation of the Group transfer pricing calculations (including the review of interest etc.)
  • Processing of tax and transfer pricing journals on the SAP and BPC systems.
  • Corporate income tax calculations for all Group companies in order to ensure compliance with IFRS.
  • Corporate deferred tax calculations for all Group companies in order to ensure compliance with IFRS.
  • Tax impact on items of a capital nature that impact headline earnings per share and provide input to the Group Finance team (example: headline earnings per share - for all company codes).
  • Hyperinflation tax effect (checking journal posting accuracy).
  • Hyperinflation tax effect (items of a capital nature).
  • Tax effect of inter-company long term loans.
  • Tax effect of forex on lease liabilities for application of hedge accounting.
  • Tax effect of unrealised forex - cumulative total.
  • Review of tax disclosure - ZAR forcing translation entries, tax rate recons (other exempt income and non-deductible expenses) deferred tax recons, deferred tax breakdowns, tax losses, long term loan forex split.
  • Performing tax administration and compliance functions including SARS e-Filing and other Revenue Authority websites.
  • Assisting with Revenue Authority Audits (South Africa and the non-RSA group companies).
  • Providing Tax advisory services and related planning inputs.
  • Improving internal controls and checks in the tax department.
Managing training clerks rotating in the tax department, compiling theoretical tax competency linked tasks, reviewing their work, coaching and guiding them for success.

Requirements
  • Matric with a B.Com Honours degree or any relevant Tax qualification / Charted Accountant (CA)
  • Up to 8 years' experience in a group / multinational setting and / or significant exposure to the Big Four or similar environments, with an auditing background - preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience providing specialised corporate tax review and advisory services and / or managing the tax function (or in a similar specialised tax orientated role)
  • Experience with internal financial controls and risk matrices (IFCs)
  • Experience with IFRS, AFSs, corporate income tax calculations, deferred tax, transfer pricing, consolidation and foreign currency translations.
  • Experience dealing with revenue authorities, auditors and other Group Finance orientated stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and skills exposure to financial services sector in a group wide cross-functional structure would be advantageous
  • Working knowledge of Xero and excel mandatory
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Minimal travel maybe required from time to time.
