ABOUT THE JOB
The Management Accountant will report to the Head of Finance & Administration and will be a part qualified or fully qualified accountant, or qualified by relevant experience, ideally with a charity or leisure/hospitality background. The role will involve working across a charity and its trading subsidiary. Experience of working on business improvement projects would be an advantage. This role will be based in Newcastle City Centre.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in the preparation of the monthly management accounts
- To assist in the preparation of the cinema's statutory accounts
- Overseeing the preparation of VAT returns
- Maintain the fixed asset register
- Ensure the prompt and accurate reconciliation of key control accounts and inter-company accounts
- Assist in the development and implementation of finance and operational policies that reflect our organisational values and comply with legal and statutory requirements.
- Manage the monthly payroll process, liaising with HR and other departments as needed
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting and other projects as needed
- People manage the Finance team
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets
- Other tasks and duties as required
Person specification
- A part qualified or qualified Accountant (CIMA /ACCA/ACA), ideally with experience of charity accounting
- Sage 50 experience would be an advantage
- A good communicator, both verbally and in writing
- Strong IT skills, with an understanding of the importance of data management
- Proficient in Excel and other commonly used Microsoft Office applications
- Experience of preparing statutory accounts
- Experience of supervising & developing junior members of the team
- A team player with good interpersonal skills
- Self-starter and works on own initiative
- Strong attention to detail with good analytical skills
- Experience of working on business improvement projects would be an advantage
Salary:
up to £35,000 depending on experience
Tenure: Full time (37.5 hours a week)
Holiday: 33 days per annum including bank holidays.
