The team at Abacus are recruiting a Head of Accounts Payable (AP) to join our client's busy finance team based in Belfast City. Responsibilities of the Head of AP:

  • Overall management of the Accounts Payable (EMEA) team
  • Delivery of regular meaningful management information
  • Responsible for performance management
  • Ensure the timely processing and payment of all supplier invoices and staff expense claims
  • Oversee the BACS/CHAPS payment runs
  • Administration of the Corporate card account
  • Ensure correct treatment of VAT
  • Responsible for the month end close process
  • Recommend and implement improvements to the systems, processes and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with policies and guidelines and monitor and record any breaches
  • Ensure governance and controls are in place and monitored
  • Ensure compliance with Government reporting rules

Criteria for Applicants:

  • Experience managing teams in an accounting/finance function, managing multiple AP sub-ledgers and multi-currency transactions, in a KPI driven environment.
  • Experience with VAT reporting and Government reporting.
  • Excellent organisational and workload management skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in using ERP systems (Oracle is desirable)
  • Ability to analyse problems, propose remedies and implement a solution
