The ideal candidate will have experience in project leadership and management of a team within a large organisation. We are looking for someone passionate and people-focused with excellent mentoring skills and strong stakeholder management. You should be proactive, confident in taking on a high level of responsibility and be able to assess and balance multiple priorities. You must have expertise in the delivery of end-to-end payroll processes promoting exceptional service delivery and research, explain and resolve complex issues where they arise.

Criteria/Experience:
- Payroll Qualifications e.g., Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals
- Overall 8+ years' relevant experience in payroll
- End-to-end Payroll knowledge and experience is a must within a high-volume payroll business. Thorough understanding of upstream and downstream processes that impact Payroll.
- Expertise in payroll compliance, rules and legislations in a multi-country environment and with up-to-date knowledge
- Good understanding of payroll compliance including AE, RTI, Apprenticeship Levy
- Knowledge and hands on experience in Statutory payments/deductions and Pension contributions and their management
- Familiar with payroll software, preferably including Iris
- Good IT skills including experience of working with Excel documents
- Desire to further develop your technical skills
- Experience of managing a team
- Experience of multiple and large client payroll processing (preferably have exposure to managed multi-country Payroll cycle in a client service environment.)
- Payroll project experience
- Flexibility and willingness to travel (desirable)
Responsibilities of the Payroll Manager include:
- Ensure all payrolls processed timely and accurately through effective workload management and allocations
- Providing expertise advice relating to UK payroll legislation e.g. statutory payments, apprenticeship levy, etc.
- Ensure escalation procedures are in place and provide assistance in dealing with client and employee queries
- Ensure HMRC submissions are accurate and up to date, assist with audits
- Approve BACS files for payments
- Manage team performance through KPIs ensuring targets are achieved
- Employees reviews and appraisals
- Preparing fee and budget details
- Financial reporting and analysis including preparing and presenting payroll propsals
- Manage standards, processes and controls ensuring compliance with company policies and industry requirements
- Risk management
- Auto-Enrolment compliance
- Maintain key relationships with clients and internal teams
- Developing additional services and improving client offering
- Co-ordinate with global teams on payroll offerings
- Work with key teams to ensure appropriate resources are in place including SOP's, systems and tools
