BlairWest are working with an FMCG business headquartered in the North East with the appointment of a Chief Operating Officer (COO). The business is in the process of rolling out plans to grow revenues significantly over the next five years, with the launch of a new product.

With this growth, the business is seeking to appoint a driven, strategically minded COO who can help to develop operational & financial performance, ensuring that processes are fit-for-purpose as the business scales.


The Role:


  • Develop actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short term and longer-term objectives developed with the CEO;
  • Analyse internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement;
  • Directly oversee operations, HR and accounting and partner with the CEO on sales management to budget for sufficient investment capital to achieve growth targets over the near term;
  • Manage capital investment and expenses to ensure the company achieves investor targets relative to growth and profitability;
  • Monitor performance with tracking and establish corrective measures as needed and prepare detailed reports, both current and forecasting;
  • Effective board-level leadership of the finance function
  • Delivery of the finance strategies that support the strategic aims of the company.
  • Efficiently deliver robust and accurate financial information and KPIs that informs decision making and performance management at all levels of the company.
  • Overall responsibility for assessing the financial reporting resources, processes, systems and controls, ensuring that they continue to be appropriate as the business scales and implementing improvements as necessary.


Your Experience:


  • An operations leader or qualified Accountant with strong commercial acumen and a track record of success across their career
  • Familiar with the opportunities and challenges in a growing SME environment and able to evidence how operational changes they have initiated have impacted upon business performance.
  • A leader, who leads from the front, enjoys building a successful team and has the emotional intelligence and adaptability to effectively lead and manage a diverse range of functions.
  • Ability to see the bigger picture. An ambitious individual, with high standards, who will enjoy being part of this growth journey;
