About the Company

Ōtākaro is a Crown owned company that delivers and supports Government infrastructure projects.
Established in 2016, to deliver the Crown-led, post-quake Anchor Projects in Ōtautahi, Ōtākaro has dual objectives of balancing good commercial outcomes with positive regeneration outcomes for the city.

Ōtākaro has delivered, and own, the country's first purpose-built business events facility, Te Pae - Christchurch Convention Centre, which is now open, and is also delivering the Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre. Ōtākaro was responsible for the Avon River Precinct programme, the largest public realm transformation ever undertaken in New Zealand, and large central city transport projects. Other projects include overseeing the East Frame Residential development in central Christchurch.

Now an on-going and established organisation, Ōtākaro is continuing to both add to and maintain the capability in its talent rich teams to help lead and support the delivery of other major Crown infrastructure initiatives around Aotearoa.

To support and lead on both project based and wider operational management accounts for the company, Ōtākaro are now in need of an experienced Senior Management Accountant to cover a fixed term parental leave contract until June 2023.

Are you ready to jump on this opportunity to support a high-performing collaborative finance team?

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Financial Controller, and working closely with the broader finance team, the Senior Management Accountant's focus will be to assist in the provision of accurate and timely financial information and analysis to enable Ōtākaro to achieve its business goals. In doing this, the Senior Management Accountant will work closely with internal budget managers, offer financial budgeting advice, forecasting, monitoring and reporting; ensuring that appropriate internal controls are maintained.

The Senior Management Accountant will also assist and enhance Ōtākaro's operational efficiency and development through on-going review of systems, processes and structures managed by the finance team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification and be a fully qualified financial professional (preferably a New Zealand Chartered Accountant). Coupled with this, you will have at least five years of management accounting experience. Proficient in excel and ideally Power BI, you will demonstrate an ability to analyse and evaluate a range of key information sources to influence decision-making and feel confident in communicating this to a variety of internal customers.

Agile and adaptable, you will demonstrate comfortability around engaging in work that sits outside your BAU, a responsiveness to a dynamic and changing working environment, and a willingness to support your fellow finance team members, pitching in on other work where required to get the job done.

This is a role that will suit a self-motivated and hardworking individual who enjoys the camaraderie of a strong team while delivering high-quality outputs. In return, you will have the opportunity to jump into a role where you will hit the ground running and drive your career forward within this highly supportive, flexible employer, while you contribute to the organisation and its significant infrastructure projects. Are you ready?
