The Health Board is in the process of establishing a comprehensive transformation programme, which will drive improvements in quality of care, outcomes for patients and efficient and effective use of resources. Robust and flexible financial intelligence and challenge is a critical part of this Health Board Strategy and the role of the Head of Financial Improvement has been created as a pivotal senior role to lead the finance contribution to this work.

The role will require resilient, effective and adaptive leadership and communication skills, an ability to build relationships across disciplines and a willingness to offer constructive challenge to existing service models and approaches.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with extensive financial management experience and significant exposure to working with clinical and operational teams. With a sound knowledge of the principles and application of Value Based Healthcare approaches, the postholder will be responsible for translating service change into a financial improvement programme for the Board which will demonstrate improved outcomes and sustainable services into the future.

As a member of the senior finance team the postholder will ensure that the principles and key deliverables of the financial improvement plan are reflected in operational business, with systems in place to evidence effective delivery.
